Bean Building + Central Energy Plant Expansion
Eifer delivered a comprehensive design and construct façade package for the Bean Building and Central Energy Plant expansion at the Australian War Memorial.
Integrating glazing, cladding and structural systems into a cohesive high-performance building envelope.
The scope included curved glazing, custom perforated screening, snap seam cladding, anodised aluminium reveals with concealed fixings, alongside full substructure, water and weatherproofing, and security linings. Complex geometries required close collaboration with consultants and other trades, and precise fabrication with on-site agility to fully deliver the architectural intent and robust performance requirements.
On the western point closest to the existing building is the reading room glass which was the hardest element for us to build on the project. Compound curved panels were installed into compound curved channels which we had to tig weld together on-site.
It was an honour to build the Bean Building and Southern Entrance at the same time. It’s the hardest thing Eifer has done to date.
